Introduction

When you create a quote you will see there are three types of project you can do

Project

"Projects" are the most common type of work completed on Storetasker. Here, when a client accepts your quote, they pay in full immediately. We hold the money in escrow until the completion of the project. Once the client approves your work, your portion of the funds are released to your wallet. Because of the assurance that we have the money in escrow before you have begun work, this is the safest kind of one-off project on Storetasker and we recommend it for all projects except retainers.

Repeat

"Repeat" is a retainer or subscription. That is, an ongoing payment which carries on until either you or your client wishes it to stop. Repeat projects can be monthly or weekly (billed on the same date or day of the week). As there is no end point to subscriptions, money is not held in escrow. Instead, funds are released to your wallet immediately on receipt of payment from the customer.

Bill

With a "Bill," you are invoicing a customer for work already completed (assuming no Project or Repeat project is already in place). These can only be used for work that has already been completed and delivered. For example, a small amount of additional work agreed to by your client that is not covered by a Project quote. The use-case scenarios for bills are limited, and with Bills there are no protections and assurances that you will be paid as there are with Projects. For this reason, we rarely recommend using them. Please note, using a Bill as a way of receiving an upfront "deposit" from a client is against our terms of service.

If you have any questions about whether you should use Project, Repeat, or Bill for a particular project, please reach out to Support who will be happy to guide you!
